Located next to Wembley Mall in Parksville, the 85,000 square-foot Oceanside Place features two NHL-sized ice surfaces, and a leisure ice sheet dubbed "The Oceanside Pond". The seating capacity in the main arena at 800 can be expanded to accommodate 980 and the second rink has room for 200 spectators. A multipurpose floor that can cover the ice means the facility can be used year round for trade shows and entertainment events.
Look for the RE/MAX Anchor Realty, Qualicum Beach billboards in the arena and in the ice surface "This is a facility that's been envisioned for our growing community for the last five years and has now become a reality," said RDN Chairperson Joe Stanhope.
"Thanks to the support of area taxpayers and the hard work of RDN staff, RG Properties and its designer/contractor ICR Projects we have a facility to be proud of and that everyone in the Regional District will enjoy for generations to come."
